Centennial Parklands begins facilities upgrade at Moore Park Golf House
Posted: 30 April 2013
Centennial Parklands is undertaking a much-anticipated refurbishment project at the historic Moore Park Golf House to improve access and amenity for patrons.
The works will include upgrades to the men’s and women’s locker rooms, provision of a new unisex accessible toilet and an accessible ramp. Improvements to the locker rooms will include painting, floor replacement, ceiling repairs, replacement of wet area fixtures and repair and re-paint of windows and louvres.
Works will begin on 6 May 2013 and are expected to be completed by 30 June 2013. During these essential works there will be some disruption to access to locker rooms, however alternative arrangements regarding toilets will be communicated to patrons to minimise any inconvenience.
If you have any questions about the arrangements during the works period, please speak to a Golf Shop member of staff.
Investing in facilities at Moore Park Golf
Centennial Parklands has now invested over $2.5M in course and facility improvements over the last four years. Works delivered in the last 12 months have included new Golf House signage, electrical upgrades, new furnishings, driving range improvements, golf course improvements (bunkers/paths/trees and fencing), and replacement of golf course plant and equipment.
Moore Park Golf is located within Centennial Parklands, and is one of Australia’s most popularly played public golf courses. Centennial Parklands is committed to the long-term future and viability of the facility, and hope to announce further substantial investments in this golf course over the coming 12 months.

Two point golf is a great game to play, for improving your shot making skills. The idea is to predict the type of golf shot you would like to play. For example if you need to hit a tee shot left to right from the tee box, the object is to pick a start line where you want the golf ball to start and where you want the golf ball to finish.
Two point golf is a great game to play, for improving your shot making skills. The idea is to predict the type of golf shot you would like to play. For example if you need to hit a tee shot left to right from the tee box, the object is to pick a start line where you want the golf ball to start and where you want the golf ball to finish.
You can either pick a point in front of your golf ball about 3 feet in front (example a leaf or a old divot) or pick something in the distance like a tree or building. Then try and start the golf ball on the line you picked, you also need to predict a target where you would like the golf ball to finish. It could be the right side of the fairway again picking a land mark in the distance anything that is unique to you.
Sometimes you may start the golf ball on the correct start line but you do not hit your target so you would get one point. Or you may not start the golf ball on the correct start line but you may hit your target so you get one point for the target. Or if you miss both of course no points.
What this does is give you a plan for all your golf shots. It helps you to control your ball flight and it gets you away from always thinking about your golf swing. So the next time you have a golf round play two point golf and see how many points you can accumulate. If you can get into the habit of playing two point golf as opposed to just hitting somewhere down the fairway you should see a big drop in your golf scores.
Happy golfing

Posted: 11 December 2012
This week we replaced 45,000 of the 60,000 balls available within the Driving Range with brand new Srixon balls.
This is the first time a replacement of this scale has happened since the Driving Range opened. Along with the recent resurfacing across all three levels of the range, and the upgrades to the Sydney Golf Academy coaching area, the golfing experience at Moore Park Golf continues to get even better. It’s all part of a planned investment of over $2.1million into the Moore Park Golf facilities from 2009 – 2013.

City of Sydney gets world amateur status
Posted: 5 July 2012
The City of Sydney amateur tournament has been given a boost with the R&A’s granting of world amateur ranking status.
The event has been gaining momentum in recent years, attracting the cream of Australian amateur talent. In 2008 the Australian Eisenhower Cup team used the City of Sydney as one of its pre-tournament warm up events. Significantly, the event has also been designated as a Vardon event for entry into NSW State selection squads.
The announcement of the R&A sanction will ensure a stellar field as players strive for the ranking points on offer. The tournament enjoys a rich history with golfing greats such as Bruce Devlin, Graham Marsh, Jack Newton, David Graham, Frank Phillips, Ted Ball, Bob Stanton and Bill Dunk, all former participants. Legendary amateurs Harry Berwick, Tony Gresham and Alan Waterson made regular appearances at the tournament.
Moore Park Golf Club has a proud record with regards to elite golfers and during the last five years has featured in five consecutive NSWGA major pennant finals, winning three and during the same period has had no less than fifteen representations in NSW State squads and three representations at National level.
The re-scheduling of the event to October also has additional attractions such as players being in Sydney at a time to enter Australian PGA pre-qualifying events for the Australian Open and the PGA NSW Open, which are held annually at this time of the year.
