Rules and Regulations
Like all major golf courses around the world, Moore Park Golf has a number of rules and regulations to govern play on the golf course. The rules and regulations are in place to protect players, the course and staff at all times.
Local and Temporary Rules
TO BE READ IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE RULES OF GOLF AND RULES OF THE DAY.
Out of Bounds
- Those areas beyond the inside of the black boundary fence. Exception; where there is no black boundary fence then beyond the inside of a line as defined by a bollard and/or chain fence.
- Beyond the fences of the ES Marks Athletic Field, the Eastern Distributor, Raeleigh Park and the Moore Park Supa Centa.
- Course Maintenance Depot, the area within the black fencing adjacent to the 9th tee.
- A ball which crossed a public road and comes to rest beyond that road is out of bounds, even though it may lie on another part of the course.
Ground Under Repair
- All areas as defined by White Stakes and/or Lines.
- Except in a hazard, wheel marks made by a mower, tractor or motor vehicle.
- The Driving Range as defined by Black Lighting poles, wire fencing and netting structures. Play is prohibited and relief MUST be taken without penalty (Rule 25-1).
Staked or Ornamental Trees
- If a tree or shrub which is staked interferes with the players stance or areas of intended swing, the player MUST take relief as provided in Rule 24-b(i) Immovable Obstructions.
NOTE: The stakes and tree guards are immovable objects.
Immovable Obstructions
- All internal tee and green safety fences, course distance markers, all constructed paths, clearly defined roadways created by course maintenance vehicles, worn or exposed tracks extending from timber edged or bitumen pathways and worn areas on sides of walkways are immovable obstructions from which relief may be obtained in accordance with Rule 24-2b.
- The fence behind the 1st Green is an Immovable Obstruction from which relief may be obtained in accordance with Rule 24-2b or with two (2) club lengths of either end of the fence no nearer the hole.
- Pump structure 8th and 16th holes. Rule 24-2b refer.
Fixed Sprinkler Heads and Distance Markers
- Refer to the Rules of Golf, Appendix 1, Part B Specimen Local Rules, Specimen Local Rule No 5, Fixed Sprinkler Heads applies.
- All course distance markers are to the centre of all greens.
Penalty for Breach of Local Rule
- Match Play - Loss of Hole
- Stroke Play - Two Strokes
Pace of Play Etiquette
COURSE MARSHALLS HAVE THE RIGHT TO CONTROL SLOW PLAY.
A round of golf can be completed in about 4.5 hours to ensure an enjoyable round.
Players are expected to consider others and call the following group through if they fall behind the speed of play.
And you can help everyone's game 'flow' if you remember:
- There are other players on the course apart from yourself.
- To call following players through when a ball is 'lost'.
- To be ready to play your shot when it is your turn.
Dress Regulations
Golf Course, Putting Green and Practice Green (Members and Visitors)
Acceptable Dress:
- Collared shirt / polo (tucked in)
- Turtle neck
- Skivvy
- Tailored shorts / pants / skirt
- Knee length tailored shorts (up to 5cms below the knee)
Unacceptable Dress:
- Cargo shorts / pants
- Three quarter length pants
- Shorts / pants (with elastic waist)
- Short shorts
Driving Range (Members and Visitors)
Acceptable Dress:
- Neat / casual
Unacceptable Dress:
- Tracksuits
- Thongs
- Football shorts
- Hat / caps being worn within the Golf House
